Ha-Young Lee studied at Yon Sei University, the Korean National University of Arts, and at the National Opera Studio, London. At the time of the competition, she was a member of the Royal Opera House Vilar Young Artists Programme.

In the 2002/03 season she covered the roles of Violetta La Traviata, Clorinda La Cenerentola, Queen of Night Die Zauberfl枚te and Oph茅lie Hamlet.

At Covent Garden she has sung Milliner Der Rosenkavalier, Naiad Ariadne auf Naxos, Lucia The Rape of Lucretia and K盲tchen Werther and as well as covering Olympia Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Fiakermilli Arabella and Sophie Werther. She was due to sing Bubikopf in Viktor Ullmann's opera Der Kaiser von Atlantis as part of the Vilar Young Artists end of year (2005) gala.

In May 2005 at Covent Garden Ha-Young performed the role of La princesse Orph茅e (Glass). She was due to join the Ensemble at Hamburg State Opera in September 2005.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, shopping and sleeping.
