Adam began collecting glass bottles at a young age and would take them into school in York to swap with his friends. His weekends were spent visiting antiques shops to learn as much as he could. He is now an independent antiques and fine art valuer, and consultant with over 30 years experience. He also works as a specialist and expert witness for Trading Standards across the United Kingdom. In 2008, Adam was appointed a trustee of the in County Durham.
Adam was the antiques consultant to the 大象传媒 One's Going for a Song before joining the Antiques Roadshow team in 2000. He has a wide range of knowledge and has recorded items as diverse as a rolling pin, shoe buckles, and Victorian ice skates! However, his most memorable recording to date is a magnificent carved wood Fijian kava bowl at St Andrews. It was a beautiful piece of Pacific island art with an interesting practical use as a communal drinking vessel and it revealed an exciting side to tribal life.
