Mark has worked with antiques and collectables since leaving university, but credits his interest in the subject to a childhood fascination with an unlikely trio: Bagpuss, Lovejoy, and the Antiques Roadshow!

Mark began his career as a porter and then a specialist at Bonhams before moving to the Collectors Department at 厂辞迟丑别产测鈥檚, where he handled an enormous range of 18th, 19th and 20th century objects from toys to scientific and photographic equipment, vintage fashion and even bonsai trees. He then became a Director of an antiques and collectables website.
Since 2001, Mark has been the 'Collectables and 20th Century Design' specialist for an international series of books and he has also published books on Medina glass, Dartington glass, West German Ceramics and Czech glass design. He is an avid collector of 20th century glass and 19th century writing instruments.
Mark joined the Antiques Roadshow team in 2007 and before long came across one of the most memorable Roadshow visitors, when he met a lovely Welsh farmer with his childhood collection of Corgi toys. But what object would Mark most like to see at a Roadshow: "a 1920s or '30s Japanese Dunhill Namiki Maki-e lacquered fountain pen".
When Mark isn鈥檛 busy writing or seeking out the next item in his collection, he can be found tending his bonsai trees 鈥� a passion he has had since he was 12 years old.
