Teresa Romano studied with Giuliana Valente, Leyla Gencer and Luciana Serra. Awards include first prize at Voci Verdiane in Busseto in 2008 and first prize and Luciano Pavarotti Giovani award at the GB Viotti Competition in 2012. In 2005 she won a scholarship for the Academy for Lyric Singers at Teatro Alla Scala, Milan and in 2006 she made her La Scala debut as Venere Ascanio in Alba in 2006.

She has sung the main roles of her repertoire in the principal Italian theatres: Fiordiligi Così fan tutte, Alice Ford Falstaff, Madama Cortese Il viaggio a Reims at La Scala; Vitellia La clemenza di Tito in Teatro San Carlo, Naples; Margherita in Mefistofele at Teatro dell'Opera in Rome; Leonora La forza del destino at Sferisterio di Macerata and Leonora Il trovatore conducted by Yuri Temirkanov at Teatro Regio in Parma.

Teresa has also appeared as soloist on the concert stage: in two concerts dedicated to Pergolesi, conducted by Claudio Abbado and recorded by Deutsche Grammophon in 2009; at the Verona Arena as Desdemona Otello with Placido Domingo; in L'Aquila in a concert conducted by Riccardo Muti and in two concerts with the Orchestra della Rai di Torino.

Teresa’s enjoys cooking Italian food and spending time with friends.

Margherita is a peasant girl who has fallen in love with Faust. She is in prison, accused of poisoning her mother and murdering her illegitimate child. She sings about losing her mind and of her forthcoming execution.

In a cave near a monastery, Leonora is spending the remainder of her life in repentance for the tragic events which have resulted from her enduring love for Alvaro. She prays to God to end her suffering and grant peace to her tortured soul.

Temerari...Come scoglio (Così fan tutte) – Mozart

Fiordiligi and her sister Dorabella are being wooed by two strangers, who are actually their lovers in disguise. Fiordiligi, the more strong-minded of the sisters, delivers this strong diatribe on fidelity, saying that she will remain firm as a rock in her loyalty, despite all temptations.

Aida has learnt that her lover Radames has been chosen as the leader of the Egyptian army against the Ethiopians. But her father is the Ethiopian king, and is fighting to release her from slavery. Torn by her love for Radames and the terrible prospect of his victory, she begs the gods to pity her suffering.

Butterfly, the Japanese wife of the American naval officer, Pinkerton, has been waiting for three long years for his promised return. One fine day, she sings, she will see his ship arrive in the harbour and he will start to climb the hill to their home. She will wait for him on the hill as she hears him call to her. Never in the three years, despite the lack of news from him, has she doubted that he will return to her and she assures her servant, Suzuki, that this will happen.
