Waverley

Waverley by butephotography.com

I was surprised to catch the Waverley leaving Rothesay pier last weekend. I didn't realise it was still running at this time of year, but good on it!

I actually heard it before I saw it!

What a great photo of the colourful Waverley against the greyish background. I went on the Waverley years ago to Rothesay, fascinating to see the engine room and machinery.

Beautiful shot, and gorgeous looking boat. Is it the ferry?

Thanks for this photo!! when i was a kid in scotland we often went to bute for the holidays, staying mainly in port bannatyne and i loved best of all,a farmhouse wed rented two or three years running at st.ninians bay(loved the house ets,but sadly on one occasion there dad decided to call it a day with our mum) but oh so happy days spent on the waverley,up the kyles of bute etc!! sniff sniff

The world's last sea-going paddlesteamer...doon the watter...the best seat on the leeward side of the funnel, leaning against it for warmth...a wee goldie in hand and the sound of fiddle/accordion music....

Yep, it was a grey day indeed. Thanks for the comments. mjc - it's not the ferry, it's an old sea-going paddle steamer that does sightseeing trips now.

Your photo does justice to the boat. The vessel seems to be carrying quite a few sightseers. I assume it's a fair weather boat only, but perhaps I am not doing it justice.
