In this week's Nature we recorded a special debate programme earlier today (Monday 7 November) to address the issue of the bird flu virus H5N1, its impact on wild bird populations and our relationship with the wild birds of the UK.

The virus H5N1 is causing havoc amongst domesticated chickens in the Far East.Ìý Recently this strain of deadly virus has been found in domestic birds in Eastern Europe.Ìý There is a fear that migrant wild birds could help spread this disease.
