"Nature is full of surprises, so the programme can investigate fascinating and challenging areas in
our relations with the natural world without being too technical or preachy. My job is brilliant because, as a link between the listener and the subject, I can discover new information and ideas which help people make up their own minds on important issues."

The Rarity Factor
In the final Nature of the current series, Paul Evans explores the fascination of naturalists for rare plants and animals and asks whether we rely too much on rare species as drivers for conservation policy in the British Isles.
He meets rarity face to face when he visits the beautiful Military Orchid at a once-secret site in the Chiltern Hills, and finds out what we're doing to conserve rare species at the water's edge in Buckinghamshire, where the strafruit clings to a perilous existence.
Paul is joined by Sue Clifford from the charity Common Ground, writer and naturalist Peter Marren and Andre Farrar from the RSPB to discuss how we value the rare and the commonplace.
