My Dad served in the RAF Regiment from its formation in 1942. He served at a couple of RAF bases from 1940 until 1943 when his squadron was attached to 2nd Tactical Air Force. After August 1944 he served in Europe, driving a Humber armoured-car through France, Belgium, Holland & Germany. I have managed to build up a great deal of information from July 1944 to January 1946 when he was released from the Air Force. Finding information for the period 1940 - 1944 is a bit difficult and is coming through on a drip-feed basis, but at least it is still coming.
I have undertaken research on my brother-in-law's Dad and have researched his wartime service in the Royal Artillery TA and found out what his regiment did from September 1939 to the end of 1945. When he gets round to getting his Dad's service record I hope to finish it off.
I have the history bug and am keen to try and help others in getting their own research going. I'm not an expert by any means but try to be of some use to those who ask.
