Natalia Kutateladze
Mezzo-soprano from Georgia - 29 years old
I was born and grew up in a musical family in Tbilisi. Both my mother and grandmother are singers, so I was maybe destined to follow in their footsteps. The concert stage was always familiar to me and watching the discipline and lifestyle of artists from an early age helped me to prepare for the many challenges that young artists, in particular, can face.
I studied at Tbilisi State Conservatoire and performed Mercedes (Carmen) and Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro) at Tbilisi State Opera. In 2015 I went to the Juilliard School in New York, where I studied with Edith Wiens. Roles I performed there included Ottone (Agrippina) and Minskwoman (Jonathan Dove’s Flight) and Phaedra (Rameau’s Hippolyte et Aricie).
In the 2018-19 season I was a member of the Young Artists Studio at the Bayerischer Staatsoper in Munich, where my repertoire included Flora Bervoix (La traviata) and Frédéric (Mignon).
I’ve also taken part in various competitions and masterclasses, including the Metropolitan Opera House Council Audition and the International Meistersinger Akademie. I was the Second Prize Winner at the 57th Tenor Viñas Competition in 2020.
Future engagements include a number of debuts, including at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.
My hobbies are reading books and spending time with my two English bulldogs.

Cefais fy ngeni a’m magu mewn teulu cerddorol yn Tbilisi. Cantorion yw fy mam a fy nain, felly efallai mai fy nhynged oedd dilyn yn ôl eu traed. Roedd y llwyfan gyngerdd wastad yn gyfarwydd i mi a bu gwylio disgyblaeth a ffordd o fyw artistiaid o oed cynnar yn help imi ymbaratoi ar gyfer yr heriau niferus sy’n gallu wynebu artistiaid ifanc, yn arbennig.
Astudiais yn Conservatoire Gwladol Tbilisi a pherfformiais Mercedes (Carmen) a Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro) yng Nghwmni Opera Tbilisi. Yn 2015 euthum i Ysgol Juilliard yn Efrog Newydd, lle astudiais gydag Edith Wiens. Ymhlith y rhannau a berfformiais yno roedd Ottone (Agrippina), Minskwoman (Flight Jonathan Dove) a Phaedra (Hippolyte et Aricie Rameau).
Yn nhymor 2018-19 roeddwn yn aelod o’r Stiwdio Artistiaid Ifanc yn y Bayerischer Staatsoper yn Munich, lle roedd fy repertoire yn cynnwys Flora Bervoix (La traviata) a Frédéric (Mignon).
Rwyf wedi cymryd rhan mewn sawl cystadleuaeth a dosbarth meistr hefyd, gan gynnwys Clyweliad Cyngor i’r Metropolitan Opera a’r Internationale Meistersinger Akademie. Enillais Ail Wobr yn 57fed Cystadleuaeth Tenor Viñas yn 2020.
I ddod mae nifer o ymddangosiadau cyntaf, gan gynnwys un yn y Gran Teatre del Liceu yn Barcelona.
