Viking Invasion!!

Anything you ask, Anne!
The school had the customary Jarl Squad Visit this morning, here's a few pictures, have a look at the school website for some more. www.baltasound.shetland.sch.uk

The Jarl squad and the galley

The schoolbairns greeting the Jarl and his Squad

The nursery bairns got into the spirit o the occasion

So did the teaching staff!

The Jarl Squad sing the Up Helly Aa song for the school. Vikings can be civilised you know!

Tonight of course, we have the procession, burning of the galley, the squad acts, then a dance. So there should be more pics to come!

Very nice pictures of visit by the Jarl and followers. Do the Vikings have a fighting song and such?

mjc from NM

I bet Caroline loves you for posting that pic- or maybe she doesn't know. Our website's really good, if any of you hadn't had a peek yet you should do so now! And no, Mr P didn't pay me to say that!

We really need to do something about our costumes, these photos put us to shame! Excellent pics Ruthodanort!

Sunny from Arran

You look like you had a good day for it. Nice to see what you all get up to on Unst

Barebraes from Shapinsay

If Carlsberg did rpae and pillage squads...

calumannabel from lewis

They've had well over 100 years of practice, so the costumes ought to be superb. Lewis is another country. They do things differently there... C. Special used to be known as 'pantieremovers' so it could be a contributory factor.
