Too much spray, too much wind & numb hands. That summarises my battle with the forces of nature today.

Another normal day on Unst then Ruthodanort, what houses? I don't see any houses, a few huts in the distance, but no houses. I'm still a bit groggy from the anusthetic

Oh heck - wish I hadn't looked; now feeling homesick for the sea. I can smell it and almost feel the spray on my face. How long have I got now before the end of May and my visit north? Counting the weeks down already.............
Rachondarox from Lancashire
Lancashire does have nice bits.....it's the noise of the clogs on the cobbles that spoils it....

Tws, i admit that u might need a magnifying glass to see the hooses, but do you realise you have just referred to someones lovely hoose as a hut? Hope you're not planning any trips to Haroldswick soon!
Ruthodanort from Unst
i didn't see any houses either but the photos are really good
carol from france
Oops, sorry, I was still under the influence of the local antisceptic, when I wrote that uncalled for comment. I hope that the good people of Haroldswick will accept my grovelling apology. I am sure that close-up the houses are of the highest standard.
Tws from notplanninganytrips
Oh. There really are houses over there then....

Lanky folk missing the sea? With a coastline running from the Mersey to Furness. Take north shrimps when you go, the real taste of the sea.
Hyper-Borean from The Black Coombe
H-B. I live on a hill farm at least one hours drive from the coast (which, admittedly I can see on a good day from the top of the hill) and my chances of having enough time spare to go to visit said coast are extremely slim - chances of getting the entire family there are even slimmer. I grew up in Orkney and find myself missing the power of the sea and the taste and smell of the salt. Don't get me wrong - the view from the farm is fantastic; it just lacks sea!
Rachondarox from Lancashire
Rachondarox, I can sympathise with your nostalgia for the sea. I have never lived far from the sea, a few months in Manchester nearly 40 years ago and a couple of years just north of Preston before that. From the Preston location we could, and did, visit the Fylde coast fairly easily so i did not feel deprived. The funny thing is as my wife often remarks; for a man who loves the sea and boats I do tend to suffer from mal de mer rather easily.
Hyper-Borean from Beside the seaside
A sailor went to sea, sea, sea, to see what he could see, see, see, and all that he could see, see, see, was.....

Lancashire's nice bits: the M62 into Yorkshire, Pendle Hill & Silverdale.
Muness from Fetlar
Ahem. I don't think so. In fact, quite the opposite.
Flying Cat from Cheshire Grin
Some of Lancashire's other nice bits : - Martin Mere, Trough of Bowland, Morecambe bay.
Hyper-Borean from South of the Mersey
No - trough of Bowland - always rains & full of tourists, Martin Mere - boggy & full of birders, Morecambe Bay - very nice (if you don't sink). As to Morecambe....
Herman from Lancashire
Ah Morecambe of which a comedian once said,"That's where they tested the atom bomb and afterwards nobody could see any difference." Needless to say all his futurer bookings were in Blackpool. However offshore the finest shrimps you ever tasted.
Hyper-Borean from Pre PCland
Looks just like a peerie breeze to me.
