Animals that live on cold mountains
Description
What types of animals live on a mountain? A report about the cold, hostile environment high up in mountains and the animals that live there. We are able to observe and learn about the adaptations of mountain goats, leopards, rabbits, snowcocks, geese and yaks.
Classroom Ideas
As they watch this clip, students could write down the names of the different animals observed. In each case, the animals could be categorised as mammals, birds, reptiles, and so on and an explanation of how each animal has adapted to the cold environment could also be given. For example: 鈥済rey wolf鈥 鈥 鈥渕ammal鈥 鈥 鈥渢hick coat which camouflages them from their prey鈥. Students could then take one animal featured in the clip as a case study and go on to research their physical and behavioural characteristics in more detail and consider how these are essential for their survival.
