Wobbly teeth
Description
Three children show and discuss their wobbly teeth. They visit an aquarium and find out about sharks’ teeth before talking about the differences between shark and human teeth.
Classroom Ideas
Students could be given pictures of different animal teeth, or actual samples if they are available, and match them to both the animal they belong to and the food they would be used to eat.
Students could go on to draw x-ray style diagrams of different animal skulls, showing how many rows of teeth they have on their top and bottom jaws, and how they work. Snakes have four rows on their top jaw and two on their bottom. Venomous snakes have fangs which are long and sharp so that they can pierce the flesh of their prey and hold on to it while they inject venom. Students could explain this by annotating their diagram in each case.
