I moved into my present house in Waterloo in 1978
The area suffered litte from bombing but apparently German bombers on occasions ditched unused bombs when returning from the docks, and being near the river this house received a direct hit in May. The bomb went through the roof the house but did not explode. The bomb disposal people were unable to locate it and it remained undiscovered until August 1941 when it caused some panic and the evacuation of the area. It was eventually defused and taken aaway on the back of a lorry
