"There is no substitute for one-to-one advice from a听top medical expert and that's what we offer our callers and emailers. But for each person who calls to ask for help, someone else phones in to pass on a tip or a suggestion -听it's a great programme to present."

Chronic Resolutions
In the second of听Check Up听 specials over the festive season Barbara Myers is joined by GP Dr Keith Hopcroft to answer listeners' questions and e-mails about their New Year's health resolutions.
Many of us - particularly men - put off going to see the doctor about those niggling problems. We hope they'll go away. They could include things like lumps and bumps on the skin; twinges in the knees that we might put down to just getting older; or more embarrassing issues.
Or we could be after some medical help in changing our lifestyle, such as giving up smoking, taking up exercise or changing our diet.
Check Up听 will be discovering the top five issues that people are planning to deal with in the coming year.
Dr Keith Hopcroft will be tackling these questions with his many years of experience as a GP in Essex, but he will also be dealing with them with a wry sense of humour.听
