"There is no substitute for one-to-one advice from a听top medical expert and that's what we offer our callers and emailers. But for each person who calls to ask for help, someone else phones in to pass on a tip or a suggestion -听it's a great programme to present."

Stammering
In this episode of Check Up, Barbara Myers takes listeners' questions on听stammering.
Barbara's guest in the studio is Frances Cook, a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist at the Michael Palin for Stammering Children.
If you have a question, please contact us by emailing the programme via this link, or by calling 0870 010 0444 from 1.30pm - 3.30pm on the day of broadcast.
Stammering often starts in childhood, usually before the age of eight.
Four out of five children grow out of it, but if your child is one of the 20% who doesn't, it's best to get help early.听
There is no听cure for stammering, but sessions with a speech therapist can make a significant difference, as can听having a supportive partner or parents.
This week our expert and callers will be sharing tips on how to help a family member or close friend who stammers, and giving advice on how to find a suitable speech therapist.
Next Week
Next week鈥檚 topic is sore throats. |
