"There is no substitute for one-to-one advice from a听top medical expert and that's what we offer our callers and emailers. But for each person who calls to ask for help, someone else phones in to pass on a tip or a suggestion -听it's a great programme to present."

Epilepsy
In the first in a new series of Check Up, Barbara Myers will be taking questions about epilepsy.听
Around 450,000 people in the UK have epilepsy.
For some, the condition will cause nothing more than the occasional tremor, but for others, it can lead to convulsions and loss of consciousness.
The great majority of those with epilepsy lead a normal life with the help of antiepileptic drugs; but it鈥檚 a condition that is still sometimes misunderstood in wider society.
Barbara鈥檚 guest in the studio is Dr Matthew Walker, Honorary Consultant Neurologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London.
Have you or someone close to you been recently diagnosed with epilepsy?
Are you unsure what to do when your colleague or relative has a fit?
Are you uncertain when you can drive?
Have you been free of fits for so long that you are wondering whether it鈥檚 safe to stop your medicines?
Are you planning to start a family? If so, are you worried about how your epilepsy will affect your pregnancy and your child?
