"There is no substitute for one-to-one advice from a听top medical expert and that's what we offer our callers and emailers. But for each person who calls to ask for help, someone else phones in to pass on a tip or a suggestion -听it's a great programme to present."

Back Pain
Back pain can be just a niggling ache or disabling agony and 60% of people experience some degree of it during their lifetime.
In one year it cost the NHS 拢481 million and caused 81 million days of sick leave.
However, it's often difficult for doctors to find the exact cause of back pain, especially if the cause has been building up gradually over many years.
Just twenty years ago, the advice would be to lie down on your back to get it better, but there has been a revolution in back pain management.听
Today the message is get up and get active.
This may not be so easy when in pain, so if you want the latest tips to a healthy back please do contact us.
Barbara Myers will be putting your questions to GP Dr Stephen Longworth.
Contact the Programme Check Up is your opportunity to ask an expert about the condition. If you have a question, contact us by calling 0870 010 0444 from 1.30pm - 3.30pm on the day of broadcast听or by emailing the programme - see 'Contact Check Up' link above.
