July Update

Hi I.Bers hope all is well, thought I would give you an update on the Ducklings.

They are doing great and 6 weeks old now, we think this time around we may be lucky 1 drake and 2 girls so those eggs will come in handy for baking? They are real friendly little chaps and are a pleasure to have around. As you can see they like the pond too.

As for the Orpington's they are producing some great laying, except we had a bad accident....................someone left my polytunnel open, and guess what???

NO VEGETABLES left, I could only salvage a few plants so back to the drawing board with that one !

Everyone is doing great here for out 1st year and now getting to spend some time going out with the kids as the weather is still quite mild, but I wont hold my breathe.

I have nearly completed my 1st job, which has gone really well, so im now availible for other work lol.

Hope to hear from You all soon.

Best wishes

Great to see a new blog, Fred, and I'm so glad everything has worked out for you all. Pity about the polytunnel - you'll be able to have egg salad without the salad :-) Ducklings are VERY cute! Enjoy your summer.

A whole year already Fred? Maybe you should buy a cake to celebrate, and invite me along to help with the celebrations?

Tws from You Know By Now

Doesn't Fuchsia Dunlop have good duck recipes, Fred? I just ordered her recently released "biography" which apparently also contains further yummy recipes. How's your (and wife's) Chinese cooking? Did she enjoy those two earlier Dunlop books you gave her (for Christmas, was it not?)?

mjc from NM,USA

Purrsonally I think the eggs will be much improved by being unaccompanied by salad! I like your campanula by the pond, very artistic.

Flying Cat from here ducky ducky duck...

Hi Jill, well the courgettes are ok, and maybe the cauli the weather is alot better now are you going away, we know TWS did, Oh Tws I feel a coffee coming up your place or Mine?

Fred from point

Love the duckies!

Soon, Fred, soon yeah?

Tws from The Croft Lewis

If you feel a coffee coming up perhaps you need to keep the sleeve of your anorak handy...as recommended by Soaplady!

Flying Cat from up my sleeve

Hi Fred, you should check out Fuchsia's Dunlop "memoir" - Shark's Fin and Sichuan Pepper. A fun but also informative read. (In passing, I recommend her recipe for Stewed Bear's Paw.)

mjc from IN, USA

Come to think of it, cat's paw could be substituted. I should think that one might need two or three to compensate for their puny sizes (personally, I would throw in a tail for good measure ...)

mjc from IN, USA

Purrsonally, I think it would be much much better if SOME folks would just not think too hard...

Flying Cat from a hard stare (tail attached firmly)

Hey mjc, or maybe back to a classic Pigs trotters lol
