Some Blogging News

Every so often over the past year you will have heard mumblings about improvements to Island Blogging. Every so often something actually happens, and this is one of those times!!!

Later next month I'll be travelling to the 'new' islands of Gigha, Jura, Islay, Arran, as well as some fleeting trips to existing Island Blogging parts in Argyll to explain our exciting new developments.

Amongst these are:

a) moving to 'reactive moderation', that's where you can post stuff 'live' if your a 'trusted user'.

b)a groovy new system where you have more control over the layout and look of your blog

c) eventual roll-out to every Scottish Island over the next six months.

Over the next few days we'll be explaining how its going to work and detailing our itinerary so we can meet as many of you as possible/desirable?

Mike

PS One last thing here are a list of the who monitor these sort of things. Is yours on there?

A few further notices (I'll try and post this all on the one blog rather than clog up the system, and I'll put all this information in the newsletter as well).

First - the new set up will allow you to have some biog about yourself or your blog, a few permanent links to your favourite sites (non commercial etc - usual guidelines apply), a new set up where you can create your own galleries and a choice of six new blog designs. You can also add a permanent picture of your self (or whatever) to illustrate what your all about.

The first phase of the development launches next month and will roll-ot to include: Coll, Tiree, Mull, Iona, Colonsay, Lismore, Kerrera, Seil, Easdale, Luing, Islay, Jura, Gigha, Arran, Sanda, Bute, Great Cumbrae
Holy Island, Lunga

Then it will be the Western Isles later in the summer, and Orkney and Shetland in October. We've decided to keep three different areas so we don't go suddenly to one huge anonynous group. Any questions /comments let me know. Post a comment here or email me at islandblogging@bbc.co.uk

Does anyone live on Lunga? There were just Puffins and Guillimots last time I was there.

Different Lunga Gary, this one is further south. The one near Staffa is a bird sanctuary, your right.

We're deliberately including even the smaller islands so they have the chance to opt in, if there's no take-up we can always let them go.
