I see that Scotland's first community-owned Windfarm on the Isle of Gigha has won a UK renewable energy award before producing its first unit of electricity.
The Gigha project has won the inaugural Ernst & Young / Euromoney Renewable Energy Award for Best Community Project. The windmills are due to be up and running before the end of this year and will provide more than two-thirds of the community-owned island's energy needs and generate a healthy financial return for the Isle of Gigha Heritage Trust to use in the continued regeneration of the island.

Some of you may remember Gary - formerly Tobermory Tales - who moved en famille from Mull to Carradale.
He's emailed us to say: "Now that we're down in Carradale on Kintyre I've finally got around to setting up a new blog, called 'The Carradale Goat'. I just wondered whether you'd mind mentioning it in the Blog-Blog?
It's still a bit rough round the edges but this will improve as I tidy up the software that runs and hosts the blog - it's home-grown you see - but I'm happy enough with it now to let the world in."
I don't mind at all Gary.
Here it is:

For those Mull-based folks there's a craft fair this Saturday at An Tobar, where none other than our own Cottage in the Woods will be appearing.
More details here...

We're starting a whole load of changes over the next weeks and months to overhaul the experience of Island Blogging.
We are responding (at last) to the various complaints and annoying things people have found with the site.
We've started off with changing how you view the Comments. They now read in the order they were posted, making it much easier to follow and participate in a conversation. Simple I know.
They're also broken up with a divider line.
Take a look.
Anyway, thank you for your feedback and hope you'll approve of the technical and design changes coming your way.

Gary who used to blog here, and lived on Mull sent in these pictures in saying:
"What with the debate on wind farms still raging on Island Blogging I thought I'd submit a couple of pictures from a recent trip up into the hills above Carradale, to Deucheran Hill in fact, where one of Kintyre's windfarms is sited. Both pictures (attached) show turbine number 8. In one you can see the turbine 'head' clearly whereas in the other our Landrover is shown to add a bit of scale."
