Life of the triffids

Carol from France got in touch with these photos saying: "Here are some photos I took thinking of Barney from Swithoid".

They're not really triffids but something much more familiar...

The first photo is a baby triffid in late April or early May before maturing in photo 2 which was taken in late July. The mature triffids in photos 3 and 4 were snapped at the end of August before passing on, as you can see, in photos 5 and 6 taken on 4th September. The last two photos show the abrupt demise of the triffids.

Note from Ed - thanks Carol for the photos. Summer really has gone for another year.

Good news from Anne

There is some great news to share. Those of you who recall the queen of IBHQ before I moved in will remember that Anne moved on to pastures new. She's been a busy lady and is now the proud mother of baby Catherine!

IBHQ can report that Mum and daughter are both very well.

Congratulations Anne on the birth of Catherine!

Baby

Note from Ed: the photo above isn't actually Catherine. We just thought that it would be nice to add a photo.

Letter from Norway - Dag's trip to Trondheim

Dag has been in touch from across the North Sea with another letter from Norway. Dag says:

This weekend me and my wife made a trip to Trondheim to see our daughter and her husband. Trondheim is a centre for education. Anne Lise and her husband are studying mathematics and science. They love the city along with 30,000 other students.

Next time I will write about Stavanger, but I leave Bergen to Ruthodanort. She knows more about the city than I do. She can just ask her boyfriend, he knows the most. So perhaps a 'Bergen blog', Ruthodanort?

Dag's on the road again

Letter from Dag.

Hello to all of you readers and friends of Island Blogging.

I know that I'm not writing about Scottish or Island life but I hope that you are not tired of me, yet.

My wife and I took a drive to her birthplace to visit her parents. They live in Rosendal which is pretty close to Bergen, only two hours drive away.

In Rosendal there is a big property and mansion, Baroniet. It is not popular with the locals as they remember the old times when the lairds ruled over them.
Nowadays the goverment is the owner and it is now open for everyone to visit.

The people living in Hardanger have always been good boat builders. They still are. My father-in-law has been a boat builder all his life and been working on this shipyard. The boat is a supply ship for the oilindustry, going to the north of Norway.

The weather has been very good this autumn. My pictures will show that.
Hope you like my photos and will visit Norway some day.

Dag
