We Interrupt this Webcast

Apologies for any problems people had yesterday, this was a technical error beyond our control that had me jumping up an down in a rage. Not that this had any effect at all. Sorry to hear that this caused problems for a new user from Lewis about to join us...

back to normal service today.

For anyone wanting to help publicise the site, you can email me your postal address and I'll send you a poster. Here's John Macphersons English language version:

Kirkwall Diary - IBHQ on Tour

Second day on fabulous Orkney, for me and Graham up promoting the new Northern Isles section. We are first time visitors so our cultural gaffs are coming thick and fast - there is no end to our cultural ignorance!

We are hoping for some blogs of the Kirkwall Christmas and New Year Ba', from brave-hearted photo-journalists. Anybody up for that?

Managed to find a Beer Tasting session at the Orkney College last night after a hard days work...Valhalla Brewery (from Shetland) combining with local home-brew connoisseurs investigating the advantages of bere-based beer.

One for the Coll Bar I think. We were also told of the local delicacy of Brides Kog (sp?) a heated blend of beer and spirits passed round at weddings by the happy couple. We effete Glaswegians new nothing of such practices, but it sounds great. Graham was seen taking recipe notes while slugging from a Irn-Bru bottle with mysterious contents.

Good to see a few more Orkney and Shetland blogs kicking off today - Tuesday and one from Fair Isle.

Welcome one and all.

Christmas Message

Off on our Christmas holidays... and the station will be 'manned' by a variety of trusty colleagues and retainers.

Expect pages to be updated infrequently over the next two weeks (you really can't get the staff these days!).

Never fear however posts will be moderate every day.. so the fervent Fank organisation can continue unfettered...onwards to the Turkey!

Peace be to you all!

love and festive greetings,
Mike
