Residents 'support' isle turbines

Most people who live near the site of a proposed 27-turbine wind farm on Skye support it, according to a community council chairwoman.

Moira Macdonald, of Skeabost and District Community Council, said a ballot of Edinbane residents last year found the majority back Amec's plans.

IF that is so, I hope each gets a gigantesque turbine in his/her back yard, though it may give the houseowner a crick in the neck trying to look at the spinning monster (but they could look at the neighbor's and estimate the wind force).

Isn't it remarkable, that two islands, only 40 miles apart, can have such opposing views on a similar issue. Unfortunately, I am aware that feelings around Edinbane run VERY high on this issue. Polls taken in Lewis on the windfarm there (8 times the size of the Skye one) returned 50% to 90% against.
