Where in the world?

England, Wales, France, Norway, Canada, America and Australia. Off the top of my head those are the countries - outwith Scotland - we receive regular comments from. But do we have any far-flung readers who are content to read and not join in?

Lately I’ve been wondering just where in the world Island Blogging reaches. If you’re an overseas regular visitor to the site please let us know! Add a comment at the bottom of the page detailing where you are and what brought you to Island Blogging. Do you have links to the islands or are you simply interested in Scotland?

It’s a completely unscientific survey – I’m just curious! I’m sure our regular (and not so regular) bloggers would be interested to find out where their blogs are being read too…

Thanks
Anne

Once I visited UK, traveled from the northend to the south end. I was excited to see people, and their surroundings such as houses, towns villages, cities, land, rivers, woods, and so on. I felt being healed. So I keep on visiting this web-site. Thank you.

Not very far-flung but I just wanted to say how much I enjoy IB. It gives such an insight into people's lives. I've visited Lewis briefly (so tws is always of interest!) and been to Skye, and spent happy times in Ullapool so I have a little local knowledge. I wish I could live there! And I love the Flying Cat pictures, what a beauty!

Thanks for your comments. Arnish – I daresay we could, but this way is just so much friendlier! ;-)

Hi Anne, I wanted to visit the northern isles ever since I attended Durham Univ. but the logistics looked horrendous particularly on a limited budget. Germany was more affordable, and I had a girl friend there: so this was where I usually ended up between terms. My wife and I visited both Shetland and Orkney not quite two years ago on an archaelogical tour, and plan to come back soon. Reading the blogs and bantering can be fun: it is interesting how one develops an idea of who the blogger is (education, interests, personality), and it would be fun to meet them in person (which I may well do when we next visit). Thanks Anne, for keeping the blogging sites running smoothly.

CF, you were born in Montrose? Wow. That's a 10/10 for you then! Parental Units are of it very fond...

One of the better restaurants in the whole of Scotland is in Montrose, on the main street, in a hotel (forgot the name, but it is close by the bank) Decently priced too. Made the chow places in St. Andrews look decidedly inferior and overpriced.

Useful recommendation filed for future reference mjc. Bipeds went to Roo's Leap for cheap&cheerful dining in Montrose.

I am of Scottish descent and have been interested in the country for years. Stumbled across this site and get a definite charge out of reading the bloggers. Some of them are VERY funny! Being a cat lover, Flying Cat is my favorite blogger - and such a handsome boy he is, too! :)

Erica from SNOWY Central New York State, USA

FC, a handsome boy? I thought he was a castrato (as per FC's own blogs), or at least a counter-tenor. In any case, clearly well fed. Enlighten us, FC.

mjc from NM,USA

mjc you just BE QUIET! Erica is obviously a girl of great good taste and doesn't need to know.... what she doesn't need to know. You wouldn't want to queer my pitch? I'm in there with a chance...Fank '07 here we go!

Flying Cat from primping&preening parlour

Hi Erica, don't tell us you are a haggis and black pud lover too? # Why don't you join me and ask FC what contraption was being built without zoning and planning permission? # And how many moggies might you have? A Maine Coon included, I hope?

mjc from NM,USA

As an ex-isle from lanarkshire and having lived in such places as Texas and detroit I've always wanted to visit Scotlands outer islands this site lets me do that virtually and the island people that blog here seem so friendly. It is so refreshing to spend a wee while here away from the other worlds constant doom and gloom. great site
