This boat they are going to burn in Orkney - are there any washed up containers from it?

You don't want the containers all washed up, for crying out loud. You want them full! Otherwise, why bother to look for them?!

Up Helly A' is in Shetland. Best thing to say? not sure. but definately not happy UHA. Will think about it.

Anne, up until about 7pm you can say "Three cheers for the Guizer Jarl" then you will probably just say "Ooh! Aah!." Cos you'll be gobsmacked at the costumes of the various squads. Then you will partake of hospitality and you won't say anything until about now, 8:30pm on .

Full containers still float. Newton's First Law of Gravity and all that. In fact with an outboard motor you could cross the atlantic in one or sail to a Fank!

Of course the full containers float: that's how they get beached rather than sink down the watery grave. Assuming the containers have single malt bulked in them, you enjoy it. If you want to wash up the containers afterwards, then that's fine: you live in a free country, after all. As for Newton: is he coming to 2007 Fank? We could use some gravitas.

Hope you are remembering that the Lerwick Up Helly Aa is only one of many - Unst has 2, our first on the 16th Feb in Uyeasound, and the next on the 3rd March. And of course, ours is far superior, mainly because men AND women are in the squads.

We don't have enough folk to have an Up Helly Aa - but we can vouch for the 2 Unst eens & Cullivoe in Yell. Equality in the squads.
