The same problem seems to be either persisting or appearing again with " Under me bonnet". I have tried twice to post a comment since his blog about the ferries and neither has shown up. I also seem to have failed with single coments on other blogs. The sad thing is; after a couple of days the freshness goes out of the interchange and one begins to lose interest. I do feel that the real value of these interchanges is the immediacy. It has to be more like a conversation than a correspondence to achieve what I believe to be its purpose.

I agree with H-B, surprisingly enough, it's never happenned before, and hopefully will never happen again. Will this comment get through? Wait and see....

I’m aware of this. However - the blame for the delay in posts can be laid squarely at the feed of the spammers. The fact of the matter is that Island Blogging is completely snowed under by spam and has been for the last few weeks, as you'll have seen from my earlier posts to IBHQ. To give you an idea of what I face every morning, it's not uncommon for any blog to receive 100+ spam comments overnight only one or two of which may be genuine. And, remember, Spam arrives in these quantities for ALL blogs – including those which are no longer, or rarely, used. Each of these 100 comments has to be individually opened, checked and processed, whether or not it is a legitimate comment. Without actually opening the comment, it's impossible to tell its content. Needless to say, this is a mind-numbing, time consuming process. I do try to prioritise according to what may be a hot topic on the blogs, generating a good deal of comment and it’s unfortunate that some other comments are not being published when they should. As other bloggers have said here, they've known blogs close in the past, under the weight of spam. None of us here want that to happen to IB, though I do feel sometimes that I'm barely keeping our communal heads above water. Rest assured, work is ongoing on the spam filter and, believe me, I want to see it in place just as much as you do.

keep up the good work,anne

I don't take your hard work for granted, Anne at IBHQ, and I am sure the other ibloggers feel the same way. Thanks. # How is the cat, Anne? If I remember correctly, your cat is lactose intolerant, right? So, it could not be fed directly through squirts from the Moo as per TWS's posting? # Were your holidays enjoyable? Did you fly down to the Medi. while waiting for global warming to reach Aberdeen?

Is mjc brown-nosing Anne of IBHQ Towers? You have to learn to crawl before you can walk mjc eh? You never mentioned that her hair looks good. Amateur attempt...

Brown-nosing is what gets done in politics, TWS. I don't do such.# Just thought that I would write to tell Anne what she doubtless knows already, that ibloggers and commentators are appreciative. # Anne at times used to contribute to the discussions but recently seems to have tapered off, probably because of an indigestion of spam. So, I was trying to draw her out a little. Probably would be more effective if I lived on the islands and could suggest a weekend of pub-crawling ...

...and, not only is the hairdo a peach, but her bt does not ever look big in anything. Ever!

Now mjc, Fc's comment there, well that is how it's done. It's top notch brown-nosing is that. Well done FC ( It's not how I would like you done, steak like, it was a praise of your comment, of the highest standards too, what do Americans know about brown-nosing?)

I don't envy you your job, Anne. Thanks for keeping Island Blogging up and running! Ugh...spam...it's dreadful from the can and nasty on the internet as well!
