When we first meet him, Peter is a hospice nurse, but he soon realises his destiny is to save the world. He's an empath so absorbs the abilities of other super humans. His brother Nathan can fly and his mother Angela is from a previous generation of heroes. When Isaac predicts an explosion in New York, Peter is told that the key to averting the catastrophe is to save the cheerleader - Claire. They believe Sylar will cause the explosion and that there will be no way to stop him if he kills Claire and steals her power of regeneration.

Peter and the other heroes manage to stop Sylar in the final showdown at the end of Season 1, but it is Peter who causes the explosion not Sylar. He'd already absorbed Ted's power and loses control of it. Just as Claire thinks she will have to shoot him to stop him, Nathan flies down, grabs Peter and flies into space with him. A huge explosion follows. It seems unlikely to those watching below that either brother could have survived.

Season 2 begins and Peter's found alive but he's not in New York, he's in Cork, Ireland. He discovers that Caitlin's brother Ricky holds a box containing his identity. After raiding the bank, Peter also discovers an American girl is looking for him. Scared, Ricky sends him to Caitlin's appartment. In the apartment he paints a futuristic picture of Montreal and then ends up taking a trip there with Caitlin. He's heading into one hell of an adventure.

Leaving Caitlin stranded in the future, he meets Adam. This guy soon gains Peter's trust after saving his brother's life and the pair set out to save the world. But Peter has just made the biggest mistake of his life. He soon comes to his senses though with a little help from his friends, and ends up destroying Strain 138.
