Season 2
Kaito Nakamura was a powerful businessman from Japan and the father of Hiro Nakamura. He was the CEO of Yamagato Industries. At first, he appeared to think Hiro a fool for suggesting he had superpowers, but it became clear that Kaito has known all along and was himself part of a previous generation of heroes. Fifteen years ago, Kaito worked for the organisation behind Primatech Paper. He was the one who told Mr Bennet to adopt Claire, on the provision that if she exhibited any abilities, that she was to be turned over to The Company. Kaito joined forces with Hiro and trained him to use a sword in his quest to stop Sylar. Kaito was with Ando in New York waiting for Hiro to return, but he received a death threat in Kirby Plaza and died. He was thrown off a building by a mysterious assassin, who we later found out was Adam Monroe. In 1977, as part of the 'Company Founders', he was influential in protecting Strain 138 of the Shanti virus from being released in an attempt by Adam Monroe to 'start the world anew'.
Season 3
Kaito was the keeper of an important document, one half of a certain special formula. He entrusted his son, Hiro, with the task of guarding it with his life, but Hiro managed to lose it within seconds. Later Hiro travelled back 16 years to see his father handing baby Claire over to H.R.G. Hiro heard Kaito discussing giving the catalyst to Claire with his mother Ishi. Kaito discovered Hiro, who he thought was the new chef, trying to steal the secret formula from his safe. He was about to run him through with his sword when Daphne appeared and took Hiro away from the apartment. Luckily just before he disappeared, Hiro had torn the formula in two and successfully destroyed it.
