Season 1

D.L, Niki's troubled husband, had the ability to phase through solid objects. He managed to escape from prison by walking through the walls. He was also inside for stealing two million dollars, something he didn't do; Jessica (Niki's alter ego) had framed D.L. At this point, D.L was unaware of Niki's split personality so blamed her and took Micah away. Niki realised Jessica was a danger and gave herself up to the police. D.L supported Niki while she was locked up but, when Niki returned, Jessica was the dominant personality. Jessica was also working as an assassin for Linderman. When Linderman snatched Micah, DL and Niki went to his office at Kirby Plaza. They confronted Linderman but he shot at Niki. D.L jumped in front of her and took the bullet. DL then killed Linderman and Niki saved Micah. At the end of Season 1, DL was wounded but alive.

Season 2

D.L was trying to make a better life for Niki and Micah. By this point, he was a fireman and had won medals for bravery. Then, Gina - another of Niki's personalities - materialised. D.L set off to LA to find his wife, who had gone awol and discovered her in a nightclub. He got into a fight, and was shot and killed.
