Nick Flack
Name: Nick Flack, Northern Nick with the 10" fin, NFOTB,
Age: 34
Job: Graphic Designer & stay at home dad
Years Surfing: 5
Habitat: Mainly the toilet
Boards: 3
Quiver: 9'4" 'nineplus' single fin. 7' Single fin 'Keyo' popout. Making a 6'8" hull bottom single fin...
Local Break: Nothing local. Usually on the Lleyn Peninsula or the 'Forbidden' coast. Favourite spots are Croyde, Scarborough/Cayton, Sennen and Gwenver.
Places Surfed: UK, Canaries.
Favourite Surf Films: Sprout, Endless Summer, Litmus, Singlefin Yellow, Thicker than water and September Sessions. Big Wednesday makes me laugh constantly.
Worst Wipeout: Not the worst, but a recent one. Some muppet at Croyde kicked his board into my head!
I saw him take the drop, fading to go left, so paddled to his right shouting him in, "You're alright mate, you're alright, GO GO GO!!!" But he was looking at me with fear in his eyes, panicked and kicked out, in my direction, left with a nasty bruise down the back of my head and I was seeing stars for a bit.
Favourite Manoeuvre: Noseriding... Going with everything on a good strong bottom turn and feeling the board ping out of it. Head dips have become a recent favourite in the eternal search for cover ups.
Favourite Surfers: Joel Tudor, Rob Machado, Derek Hynd, all the Style Meisters, and Kelly Slater because he's better than everyone else.
Worst Surfing Habit: Paddling for everything! Looking at a 4ft close out and thinking, "there's a ride there". Getting greedy once I'm on a roll. Looking for cover ups on every wave.
Best Surfing Experience: The last one. And the next one.
Weirdest Surfing Experience: Surfing at night, trying to judge the size of the waves by the white crest against the black sea and sky.
Other Interests: Surfboards, making them, reading about them... Love reading surf biogs. Learning guitar, being a dad, bit of photography.
