Name: Owain aka Da Plough
Age: 29
Job: Speed camera tester
Years Surfing: 4 yrs
Habitat: Machynlleth, now Taunton
Boards: 2
Quiver: 7'6" 'fun board'- a slimline mini mal - Carlos Fernandez (bought back from Brazil) & 9'6" Gary Burden (bought back from Oz)
Local Break: Borth, Ynys Las
Places Surfed: Oz (east coast Byron, Manly, Urugay National Park), Brazil (Rio & Buzios), Wales, Devon, Cornwall, Fuerteventura, Portugal.
Favourite Surf Films: Shaun of the Dead (ok its not surfing but damn funny)
Worst Wipeout: Byron Bay, Oz - 6ft+ stormy day, bad rips, strong wind. I was not paying attention & drifted in from the back line whilst talking to a mate, turned round just to see a wall of water begin to break right on top of me, bosh, held down for ages, rope around the neck & then 20 secs later spat out on the shore....boy the buzz was immense! Lesson learned - never turn your back on the sea!
Favourite Manoeuvre: Tight right bottom turns on big days, then holding the line on a nice longboard wave - failing that making an arse of myself trying to show off.
Worst Surfing Habit: Dropping in on mates & then pushing them off their boards & taking their waves!
Best Surfing Experience: Byron Bay sunset surfs with sun dipping over the lighthouse with a few mates (also kinda worried cos its feeding time for sharks) & then sitting beach drinking V.B. Also Aug 04 Crantock Cornwall, beautiful 3 foot waves & getting some lip turns on the longboard.
Weirdest Surfing Experience: Seeing good waves in Borth...man that's well strange!
Other Interests: Getting points on my licence.
