6 stars who are massive Anglophiles

When non-British stars list what they love about our country, they often go for the obvious - Buckingham Palace, Shakespeare or afternoon tea.

But it takes a special kind of celeb to recognise the smaller, everyday things that make the UK great. Celebs like Paramore's Hayley Williams, who recently revealed her passion for Bargain Hunt on Instagram stories.

With one of our fav pop stars showing her love for UK daytime TV, we started to wonder, which other celebs are secret anglophiles? Which stars truly get our country? Enjoy the results of our findings...

1. Lorde

New Zealand's Lorde is a proud Kiwi (and has one of the best accents in the pop business, IOHO.)

But she's also a massive fan of the finer British things in life, not least Creme Eggs (other chocolate products are available) and The Great British Bake Off - and the legendary Mary Berry in particular.

"She's like The Queen," she told the 大象传媒's Jo Whiley. "I hope they hang out." Now that's an afternoon tea session we'd like to see...

2. Jennifer Lawrence

J-Law is pretty much number one on our list of "celebs we wish were our BFFS." (Everyone has a list like that...riiiiight?!)

Luckily it turns out that, for all she's an Oscar winning Hollywood actress, it's not all about the champagne and Chateau Marmont for our Jen. Nope, turns out she's as partial to some trashy TV as the rest of us.

You guys have your own version of Jersey Shore, which is so ridiculously amazing I can't even begin,” she gushed to The Sun about TOWIE. “It’s like another world in Essex.”

"I'm a big fan of all things British," she continued. "I like that I can go for fish and chips wearing the most awful outfit and it's cool, you know." Jen, next time you want to get a bit of batter in some old leggings, call us up. It's what we do.

3. Justin Bieber

When celebs come over to the UK we're used to spotting them in swanky restaurants or the VIP section of fancy clubs. Ok, not actually spotting them with our own eyes. We're not actually there...

But when Justin Bieber came over to the UK recently, he wanted to experience what life on our green and sometimes slightly damp Island is really like. To the delight and astonishment of the locals, he popped down to an Essex boozer to tuck into pie and mash, washed down with a glass of milk. We don't know about you, but this makes us love the Biebs a whole lot more.

4. Katy Perry

She may sing about California girls, but Katy Perry is enamoured with all things British - most notably British men and British food. Covering all the most important bases there really.

"Of course I've been to a Sunday roast, babes, I love a Yorkshire," she told Radio 1's own Nick Grimshaw. "I've had bubble and squeak too. I've had it all… I love a fresh-baked Yorkshire pudding." Unfortunately, she was slightly flummoxed when it came to another Northern delicacy. "Chip spice," she mused, "is that the name of a band?"

She also revealed some of the basis of her attraction to her previous British boyfriends, including Orlando Bloom. "I'm always very attracted to their accents of course," she said. "So posh."

5. Lady Gaga

Tea and teacup loving Lady Gaga also has a bit of a thing for Blighty. "I'm a New York girl at heart, but I love it here," she told The Mirror in 2012, before apparently tucking into a deep-fried chocolate bar (a famous Scottish delicacy) during the same conversation.

Gaga even made friends with British soap institution June Brown, who has played Dot Cotton on since 1985. , she even invited June for a very British afternoon tea at a London hotel.

6. Drake

Toronto native Drake is one of the biggest genuine Anglophiles in the music business. From his bromance with the entire Boy Better Know crew to his passion for Hackney set drama Top Boy, the star's love for London and particularly the Grime scene is real.

Drake also sampled old school UK funky outfit Crazy Cousinz on his hit One Dance, and peppered his latest album More Life with snippets of London lingo - even attempting a local accent at moments.

This year he began the UK leg of his Boy Meets World tour by putting a Union Jack over his shoulders and telling the crowd, “I owe my whole career to London. This is my favorite city in the world." London loves you right back, Drizzy.
