Six must-see trailers from this year's Comic Con

We finally know Doctor Who's real name

Steven Moffat clears everything up as a trailer drops for the 2017 Christmas special.

What's better than one ? Two Doctor Who, of course, and that's exactly what fans will be getting in the 2017 Christmas special.

Neither of these is the , the 13th Doctor, but Peter Capaldi in his final outing as The Doctor and David Bradley as the First Doctor.

We got our first proper look at the dynamic (if senior) duo in a trailer which premiered at this year's Comic Con, which took place in San Diego this weekend.

But the Doctor Who trailer was just one of the major moments for sci-fi fans to come from Comic Con, just ask Radio 1's resident film buff, :

"San Diego Comic-Con remains the convention to end all conventions: Thor, Loki, Batman, The Flash, Wonder Woman and many more besides dropped by to showcase their latest trailers. If you're keen to know what are going to be the BIGGEST movies of the next year or so, look no further."

Without further ado, these are the six must-see trailers...

Doctor Who

Two doctors and two Tardis (Tardises? Tardi?) all trapped inside a single moment in time, set in the midst of World War One.

And if that's not enough to send a tingle through your sonic screwdriver, the trailer also confirms the return of Pearl Mackie as the brilliant Bill. She was last seen nipping off into the cosmos with her watery girlfriend Heather on adventures unknown. Welcome back everyone.

Stranger Things, series two

(Warning: Third party video may contain adverts)

Things are not OK in Hawkins, Indiana. They are not OK at all.

Will Byers was rescued from The Upside Down at the end of season one of the Netflix drama, but something terrible has followed him back to our world.

We're creeped out by this one but can't wait for Halloween to roll around so we can dive back in to Stranger Things.

Justice League

(Warning: Third party video may contain adverts)

After Wonder Woman became the biggest DC movie ever, there is (wisely) a lot of focus on Diana Prince in the first full (4 minutes - it's a whopper) trailer for the Justice League movie.

The movie sees WW, Batman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash team up to take on down supervillain Steppenwolf with their powers and, judging by the trailer, a little bit of humour too.

Wonder Woman steals the show, but one-liners from Ezra Miller as The Flash and Jeremy Irons as Batman's butler Alfred give Gal Gadot a run for her money.

Thor: Ragnarok

(Warning: Third party video may contain adverts)

Perhaps it's the Guardians Of The Galaxy effect, but superhero movies are going big on the funny for the next phase of big screen adventures.

Chris Hemsworth ups the humour as the god of Thunder as he teams up with The Hulk, Loki and a seriously kick-ass Valkyrie to take on Cate Blanchett in an epic, off-world buddy movie.

The Defenders

(Warning: Third party adverts may contain adverts and/or violence)

With a distinct lack of an Avengers: Infinity War trailer on the internet following Comic Con, Marvel fans will have to make do with The Defenders instead - which is no bad thing. This, however, still counts as an Avengers adventure because every character in it has, at one time during their comic book history, served as an Avenger. Apols for geeksplaining.

Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and their various butt-kicking friends join forces when dark, powerful forces (led by Sigourney Weaver, no less) threaten New York.

We're still hoping these guys will show up in Infinity War, BTW, but that's a story for another day.

Westworld, series two

Sorry, the trailer for this one is a bit too violent for us to embed, but can - if you're not too squeamish.

Westworld was one of the most talked about new TV shows of 2016 and its second series looks set to be darker and more violent than the first - if that's your thing.

It's not all-out war in the Westworld park just yet, but things seem to be heading that way after the host-rebellion at the end of the first season. Expect to see a lot of guests having a very horrible holiday indeed when the show returns in 2018.
